When Estancia's Fairways Go Dark, the Nearest Open Tee Is a Mile Down Dynamite

What happens to an Estancia October when the club course is closed for most of it? This week, the honest answer is very little nearby. The Arizona Golf Association's 2026 overseeding schedule lists The Estancia Club as closed from September 21 through a reopening on October 27. Troon North Golf Club, the closest course to the Estancia gate, has also closed every one of its facilities from October 4 through October 8. For these few days, both courses near this stretch of Dynamite Boulevard are shut at once.

That double closure ends quickly, and what follows is more useful than a single slow month. North Scottsdale's clubs don't overseed together. They close and reopen in a staggered order, and Estancia's dates fall in the middle of that order. Through most of October, open golf and new dining sit just outside the gate. Each piece is worth knowing by date.

Estancia Reopens in the Middle of the Wave

The AGA's list shows how spread out the area's reopenings are. Here is how Estancia's dates line up against nearby private clubs, as each is listed on the 2026 schedule:

Estancia closed earlier than most of the clubs on this list. That gives it one of the longer closures nearby, at a little over five weeks, though it still reopens before Desert Highlands, Pinnacle Peak Country Club and Silverleaf. Whisper Rock offers a useful comparison. It staggers its own two courses so that only a short stretch has both closed at once. Estancia has one course, so it doesn't have that option. Its open golf in October has to come from outside the gate, and the closest option is about a mile east.

Troon North Fills the Middle of the Month

A golf directory puts Troon North about a mile from Estancia. Estancia's security gate is at 9801 E. Dynamite Blvd., and Troon North's address is 10320 E. Dynamite Blvd., farther along the same road. What matters during overseed is that Troon North is a public, daily-fee facility. Anyone can reserve a round through its own website up to 90 days ahead. Rates are priced dynamically, based on demand and availability.

Troon North staggers its two courses as well, and its own published schedule sets the dates:

• Pinnacle Course: closed September 20 through October 8, 2026
• Monument Course: closed October 4 through October 24, 2026
• All facilities: closed October 4 through October 8, 2026
• Practice range and upper putting green: closed September 13 through October 8, 2026

The AGA's list gives different dates for Troon North. This post uses the club's own page, since the club published it directly. Based on that page, Pinnacle should be playable again from October 9. Monument stays closed until after October 24, and Estancia stays closed until October 27. That leaves more than two weeks, roughly October 9 through 24, when Pinnacle is open a mile down Dynamite while Estancia's own course is still closed.

A practical detail will matter to anyone who wants to warm up before a round. Troon North's practice facility is open only to players who have a tee time that day, and it doesn't sell range passes. Range hours are 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and 5:30 a.m. to noon on Monday. A range session during these weeks comes with a booked round.

The Clubhouse Changed More Than the Fairways Did

The overseed closure is seasonal. The clubhouse renovation is permanent. Golf Inc. awarded The Estancia Club first place in the "Multiple Amenities" category of its 2026 Amenity of the Year awards. The project was designed by PHX Architecture, with interiors by Studio V Interiors and construction by True North Builders.

According to Golf Inc., the old bar was taken out and rebuilt next to a balcony that is now twice its original size, facing the mountain and the sunset views. New operable glass walls connect the indoor and outdoor dining areas, and moving the bar freed up the floor plan for more flexible seating. The same project added a yoga studio overlooking the pool and mountains, equipped with barre and TRX systems. It also made ADA accessibility a core part of the design.

On its public amenities page, the club lists dining, fitness, tennis and pickleball, an outdoor patio, and a 25-meter heated pool that it describes as year-round. The club hasn't posted a public overseed notice saying which of those stay open while the course is closed, so members should check hours with Member Services before planning around them. A larger balcony and a yoga studio were built for months when golf isn't the main event, and October is one of those months.

Two New Dinners Down the Hill

For dinner outside the gate, the news this fall is on Pinnacle Peak Road.

Il Segreto opened Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in the former Arrivederci Pinnacle Peak space. Its owner is Jameson Neuhoff of Segreto Restaurant Group. The restaurant is at 8900 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Suite D1, on the northeast corner of Pinnacle Peak and Pima roads, behind Lamp Pizza and Raven Gastropub. Mouth by Southwest described the layout as a lively bar and lounge in front for cocktails and small plates, with a quieter, more formal dining room in back. The menu features seasonal Italian dishes. The pastas include a Spaghetti Il Segreto with tomato water and confit cherry tomatoes, Mafaldine di Mare with dayboat scallops and Salt Spring Island mussels, and a Tajarin Bolognese made with a 12-hour beef ragù. Mains include a Lamb Osso Buco and a 10-ounce K4 Ranch New York strip. Expect to spend $50 or more per person, and reservations are recommended on weekends.

Il Segreto's hours are worth knowing before you go. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m., and its aperitivo hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. on those same days. Forking Scottsdale's first look reported that the patio didn't have misters yet and that they were planned for the following year. That will matter more next summer than it does this fall.

Baan Thai Bistro opened in September at 7605 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, on the southeast corner of Miller. Mouth by Southwest pointed past the usual curries and noodles to the rest of the menu. It mentioned the crispy pork shoulder with jaew dipping sauce for $16, a Nam Tok Ribeye salad for $22, and a golden-fried whole pompano with tamarind or ginger sauce for $25. Baan Thai's schedule is the opposite of Il Segreto's. It is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. That covers Sunday and Monday, the two days Il Segreto is closed.

The Rest of October by Date

Taken together, the published dates give Estancia's overseed weeks a clear order:

1. October 4 to 8. Estancia and all of Troon North are closed.
2. October 9. Troon North's Pinnacle Course, range and upper putting green are scheduled to be back after their closures end on October 8.
3. October 9 to 24. Pinnacle is open at Troon North, about a mile from Estancia, with tee times available to the public online.
4. October 25. Troon North's Monument Course is scheduled to reopen after its closure ends on October 24.
5. October 27. The Estancia Club's course reopens, according to the AGA schedule.
6. October 30. Desert Highlands, Pinnacle Peak Country Club and Silverleaf reopen, three days after Estancia.

Throughout these weeks, Il Segreto serves aperitivo from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and Baan Thai is open seven days a week.
